If you need a still controller go on ebay and look for the seller automation248 hes just great to deal with, and the 1 he sold me is just a great piece of equipment. It works better than I expected!!! Look him up check them controllers out! If 6ou decide to get 1 tell him pat recommend you!

I just checked that guy out. The unit he has listed with the PID for $379 appears to be priced pretty well. After reading his description, it sounds like he wired it safely. I like that he has a built-in breaker so it can be plugged into a higher amp line without issues. It sounds as though he wired it so that you can turn the power level down while the PID is automating (PID + variable control). That unit seems to have it where it counts without too many bells & whistles which do drive up the price. Many would prefer longer probes and written specs for them.

I recently built one somewhat similar and it cost me about $322 just for the materials. That doesn't include my labor, some extra connectors (which are not cheap by the way), a little wire here & here, etc... He used a MyPin PID where I used a more expensive Auber PID (which many prefer over the MyPin unit). Mine is fan cooled using an 12VDC 80mm LED fan, I used a larger aluminum box $56, 2 SSR (1 on/off and 1 variable), I have manual/variable control, auto PID + variable mode, rubber feet, one 3-wire RTD sensor, one K-type thermocouple connector (if/when desired to use), a digital amp/volt meter, heat indicator light, light buzzer alarm, 110V outlet with kill switch, and an alarm kill switch. After building an elaborate controller ... I can honestly say I would not want to be making another any time soon. It is time consuming and labor intensive if you aren't set up to properly to reproduce them more easily. Buying one that's already built should rule out smoke when you plug it in. When you build your own that's not always the case.
