Was selling for $20 a quart and co-operated with the cops, got misdemeanor possesion and making likker without a permit;
"just a nice old guy, not a criminal"

Neighbors smelled it in this one, not selling, charged with a misdemeanor

This one was selling and has a list of charges;

This couple was running a propane burner set up in an apartment and storing the likker in the 2 year olds bedroom.
They were selling. They're charged with neglect of a dependant, common nuisance (felony) and 2 misdemeanor's for the sale of untaxed beverage and an unliscensed still.

What's it all mean? Well, if your making your own you'll get a misdemeanor for making and if your selling you'll get a misdemeanor for selling untaxed likker. The big ones though are common nuisance which is a felony and neglect of a dependant which are both unrelated to making likker, just for being stupid.

So if your making your own, don't endanger anyone or anything and you'll get a misdemeanor....in theory anyway.
I like the first one, the arresting officer went on about how well the still was built and it was "quality" moonshine. The one where they were dumbasses, they threw the extra charges at them just for being stupid.

Don't sell, don't tell....it's a hobby folks, keep it that way and the judge (and cops) will look on you a lot more favorable if you ever do get caught.

A Murfreesboro man is behind bars, accused of having 22 bottles of illegal moonshine in his home. Officers say Stanley Dotson would buy a gallon of moonshine for $35 before pouring it into quart-sized bottles to add flavoring. Dotson is behind bars on a previous meth charge from Macon County, and could face charges of untaxed liquor and theft.

So..a meth head was thrown behind bars for a previous charge...and COULD face charges for untaxed likker and theft.
In other words, the likker ain't the problem, it's the drugs.

He's paying $35 for a gallon of shine, wonder what he charged for a quart? Certainly not a "get rich quick" scheme was it! :roll:

Also, answering adds on Craigslist... That made about as much sense as trying to find a date on Craigslist.

Now that I think of it, even more, the "nice, old guy", had to be selling in quantity. Just look at the stockpile he had. I'll bet dollars to dimes that he stepped on somebody else's toes, and they informed on him. Kind of like what hapeened, in that show we don't like to mention, when that one guys car got blown up. The exception being, the offended party called the 5-0, instead.

I just watched all 5 videos and I think I'm starting to dislike the word "moonshine". :(

+1 on that chemist. 150 gallons? That's more than 4 years supply for me.

I have to wonder with the legalization of pot in numerous states now, and the feds allowing pot distributors to work with banks (even though pot is still illegal on the federal level)...how long will it be before they realize how stupid the laws are regarding home distilling? Are there any candidates out there pushing to lighten these laws? Or are we a victim of circumstance? Because it's legal to buy from a store, you will not be allowed to make your own?

I think that people who use a propane burner to heat a still, inside an apartment without proper ventilation and with children around...deserve to go to jail.

This forum does not condone that practice.

People who make it safely and for personal consumption....That's a different story.
