Sourcing Long tube copper and SS

Post by Elfmaze »

I was hunting through Grainger today as it turns out none of my local spots carry 2" anything.

Copper type M 5ft is $68

The stainless is interesting though - something about a safe drinking water act and "Drinking water safe" Stainless 304

$138

Vs Non "sanitary"

$88

Both stainless options are 16 gauge... Is 304 stainless not drinking water safe?

Jegs has another option as exhaust pipe
$92 but a bit longer

Copper is the cheapest option you listed.

Therefore copper is the best choice IMO.. save money every chance you get.

I think exhaust pipe would be your worst option...

I've seen the exhaust pipe recommended by several posters it should be just fine, you might be able to hit up local muffler shops and find some you can work with reasonably priced.

I don't really see the question. Copper is so obvious even though I like stainless I see no option here. If you could find a 2 ft food grade SS spool and a couple of 90s and 4 or 5 clamps then it might be diff.

Yeah I guess not as much a question as a observation . didn't expect a stainless to be more than the copper pipe. Also tossing it out if anyone knew the difference between the drinking water safe sanitary and the other types of 304. Still hoping to come across a scrap pipe somewhere.
