Hey Gents,
The family and I were in Geelong for Fathers Day and stumbled onto this monster. Jess was pretty keen to see it as well.

BTW, for reference I'm 6'4"....the old girl is pretty big.

STREWTH coops, where is this in Geelong??? I've spent a lot of time on archaeology work there, and didn't know it existed.

What were you doing there, I always thought that you were at WA?

I remember tho old Corio 'Whisky'. It was pretty average, but one could always swap a half bottle for a carton of American cigarettes when the US navy was in town. I loved Pall Mall.

I have to see this and soon.

It's on the Princes Highway, just before the Ford factory. It's next to the KFC. BTW Blanikdog I'm in Melbourne, just moved here this year from Sydney.

In my efforts to find any info on Corio whisky, I stumbled on to this site listing local product.

Your recollection is 100% correct. With it hindsight it seemed an apt name in those days. The whiskey was a little rough as I recall, but I've tasted worse since I began distilling.

There was another called "Bond Seven" which was marginally better, but it all made a good medium of exchange for American cigarettes.

I've got bad memories of both Corio and Bond 7. I think even a newbie with a worm pot still could make a smoother and better tasting whisky.

Nice still for sure, but I still miss Coops' bouncy avatar.

Me Too. When I was about 8yo my father and uncle were drinking straight Corio, they gave me a drink and I though my mouth had caught on fire.....it was the most disgusting alcoholic drink I've ever tried.

My God, if that was in the States they would have to post an armed guard on that thing. Scrap copper is selling for about $3.25 per pound and the crack heads are stealing everything copper they can get hold of - ripping out plumbing in houses, stealing power lines, pulling wires out of buildings, tearing up AC units, you name it. Dallas is trying to pass an ordnance that only licensed contractors can sell scrap copper to the scrap yards because of the massive disruptions being caused by copper thieves.

That is a huge still - wouldn't it be nice to have that for a hobby still? Great photos, Thanks For Sharing!!!

The still does appear to have gone to the scrap yard. I've looked for it several times and stuffed if I can see it. Not as though it's small.
