Rum wash trub- keep or toss?

So I just finished racking off my second 5 gallons of rum wash so that I can do a run of rum this weekend. In reading a lot of recipes, they say to use some trub from a previous rum wash when starting a new one(which I did for the second batch). My question is, if I save the trub for future runs, how long can it keep?

I assume if it is being used as a yeast nutrient, then I wouldn't need to worry about killing any live yeast, so therefor I could freeze this trub for long term storage(since I honestly don't plan on doing all too many runs of any certain type). If the purpose of saving the trub is to keep the yeast colony going (like a UJSSM), will freezing kill the yeast?

sorry for such noob questions but I did quit a bit of searching and could not find anything on storage term.
