I have not found any information about live oak in my reading here. I have a ton of Texas Live Oak splits from trees that died in the drought. Would this be suitable to use in aging? thanks from a newbie for your opinion.

I looked it up and found that some do make barrels out of it to use for aging. I didn't find a whole lot on it but I would say give it a shot. Worst case is you redistill it if you don't like it.

Have you tried the valley oak we have around here, rockchucker? I've found it's great for oaking.
