Sacrificial run?

Post by Ditch doc »

I know I'm about to get cussed but I searched and searched for this and can't find a good answer...

Do I absolutely have to do the sacrificial run in a stainless steel distiller. I understand the alcohol cleans the copper ones by taking off chemicals from its production but stainless is different

As PrairiePiss & SC stated in your welcome post, YES you need to do a sacrificial run. I wouldn't drink anything made with turbo crap anyways.
Big sign that you are impatient, which I promise you can and will be a big downfall in this hobby.

Ps. Cleaning run has nothing to do specifically with copper. It is to clean any left over gunk from the building and production of the still, does not matter the material.
Well, between Scotch and nothin', I suppose I'd take Scotch. It's the nearest thing to good moonshine I can find.

If you think that your first run is going to be the damn good top shelf stuff. You will be disappointed. You will need to see how things work and figure how the still runs, how to do cuts, etc. That first run is going to be nasty crap anyway, just use it to clean and learn. Then use your next run to learn some more. It takes a bit to be good at this.

Just out of curiosity, did you even read PP and S-Cack's replies in your welcome thread? Did you think the answer would be different in a new thread?

Best be careful, Pilgrim. That's thin ice. :problem:
