So I seen this wallmart shredded coconut and decided, Some coconut rum would be great....... Well BIG mistake...... looks and tastes like some one took a shit in my jar, And forget filtering the bits out. It clogs anything up. It all ended up being dumped down the drain as my biggest fail in homebreweing and distilling.

Sorry for the hassle, I try to avoid Walmart when ever possible. Unfortunately now that I qualify for Medicare, Walmart is their preferred pharmacy.

Have you have successfully made this with product from a different source?

Every time you walk into Wallmart it takes 20 minutes off your life.

A fresh cocconut maceration can be really tasty, but has to be cold crashed.

unfortunately i can never get fresh coconut where I am in Canada up north, Its always rotten. Im over making rum for now anyways. Move into whisky

Sorry, Bacon, but that is funny... if I had got to A: someone took a shit in my jar, I don't think I would have moved on to B: trying to filter the bits out...
I'm moving the other direction, I've made a few whiskeys I'm happy with, now going to explore some rum!

I think it was Jimbo that suggested using essence. No messing about and it makes a very nice malibu copy. Try about 35ml per liter.

That would probaly be the best way to go, I was looking at essences for other things but it just seemed to expensive at 5$ a bottle for rootbeer snaps lol

I couldn't agree more, except, corn for $10 a 40# bag, sugar for $10.50 for a 25# bag and the opportunity to know that your genome pool has far exceed the local status quo!!!
