thanks for letting me join here hope to one day to be as good as my dad at this .I do have one problem with the way I do it but it is good .I have a 8 gallon copper still with a 1/2 gallon thumper run in to a worm but can't get it to go above 100 proof when it starts good taste and blue flame good smell just can't get it to a higher proof .my dad use to run it about 140 to 150 proof to start thanks for any help

Welcome to HD. Maybe you can figure it out with a little research and reading here on these forums. To get you started, read the links in my signature. Some of it may seem a little basic to you, but it may help to get you over that little bump.

By the way, your thumper is too small. It should be at least 3 or 4 gallons for the 8 gallon boiler you're using. It might help us to get a handle on your problem if you could post a good picture of your rig.

+1 on both topics SC posts and welcome. I would say that you will pass in no time id you decide to stay around. Dad prob had 2 or 3 teaching him and at best 10. You make 24,444 people here. Huge advantage to you. Read read read. Take advantage of every ones successes and mistakes and be safe .
