Aging Scotch whisky on toasted and charred new staves

I have 10 litres of scotch whisky aging on new medium toasted oak. I know Im supposed to use used bourbon staves that have been charred but cant seem to get any at a decent price. A guy I know had promised me some but Im still waiting and have given up on him.
So I was thinking of just charring some more of my medium toasted oak and replacing them with the oak I am already using. Will this still give me a decent scotch whisky even though they havent been used on bourbon previously?
