Need advice on my new still

Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

Need advice on my new still

Post by centralpabiofuel »

I've had this still for 3 years and am finally ready to get back into brewing.
I had some success before producing ~60% on the first run. I would like
to be able to produce 190 proof, but don't know if that is possible. This is
the still that I am using.

I was using a sugar wash that was fermenting with baker's yeast from the
supermarket. I think I may have been making the wash to rich in sugar
and too rich in yeast. But anyway is 120 proof good for a first run?

What should I do with the rest of the wash after it is distilled? It should
have a lot of nutrients left, no? Can it be pured into a compost pile?

Basically I'm starting over from scratch except for the still, I have that
already.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you.
