cava antigua, a tequila that need to be whisky

I had a tequila called cava antigua the other day that tasted like a mild cherry pipe tobacco smells. It has a abv of 40% but was as smooth as a 20% with no alcohol tast. I want to make a whisky with this taste. Please help.
