Pretty strtaight forward. I had a supplier in NM that no longer exists. The product that juniper made was unreal. Ive bought several other organic sources and they are no comparison regardless of amount. The flavor is completely different. This fresh stuff was floral and out of this world good. Im wondering id the species mattered. It was picked in Clayton, NM, but, I don't know exactly what it was.

I would be interested in the same. I have a lot of eastern red cedar around where I live, but the berries don't ripen until around August or September. I don't want to wait that long.

I pick my own around red rock. Have you looked around your area for them?

I just bought a jar last night from Whole Foods. They looked fresh and did the trick in my gin basket.

Also, can you describe your method for making gin with the berries? I have a recipe and a procedure but I'm interested to hear others.

@Due51: Whole Foods has been my supplier for Juniper as well. Get them right before I make a batch. Much better than what I hand picked on the shores of Lake Huron's North Channel. I macerate, then distill on herbs and grain.
