Intro from Tasmania

Post by robpftas »

I am from Hobart Tasmania. Been distilling for about 15 years mainly Azeo but more recently AG.

Aiming for quality not quantity. Built my own reflux gear experimented a lot and settled on VM. Have added modular bubble plates to run whiskey and then packed on top for neutral.

Just finished my new 100L mash tun with RIMS and pump. Fermenting all malted barley but about to play with wheat and barley combinations.

Tassie is the home of world class award winning whiskey made by small distilleries. Using them as a bench mark I have to say thay I am already making good whiskey.

I would like to put the feelers out to find like minded members in local area to share experiences.

Have been lurking for many years HD has been a great source of info which has kept me safe and inspired in this fascinating hobby.

Hi Robftas,
I'm in the Nth East of Tas...it's all happening down here for the commercial boy's I've visited Helyer's Rd in the Nth West and Belgrove at Kempton...Peter's Rye Whisky was an experience of its own. Slowly I will visit all of our home grown distilleries in Tas. I might see you as I travel around Tas...Take care and keep quality over quantity a very close second to safety.
I run a 6" 4 x sieve plate bubbler (flute), all hand made by myself, Custom Copper Fabricator mounted on my 100ltr boiler...my approach to Hobby distillation is safety 1st, quality a close 2nd and making good friends with similar hobby's as myself.
