I have a half dozen glass carboys, but I just bought one of these and I might use it for a fermenter, no?

yep, thats a perfect fermenter. Although it doesn't appear to have handles so I'd put it at bench height so siphoning is possible.

If you're in Georgia, as your profile says, then you should be able to get a better deal on HDPE than that. $25 with shipping seems a bit high.

It's ashame that you have to pay as much for shipping as the item. I would like to have 3 or 4 of those.

I don't doubt they are here in Hotlanta. I just have to find the warehouse or distributor local that has them. In the meantime, I figured I'd pick one up. I did a best offer and got mine cheaper than the initial sales price.

Go for the 20 gallon barrel - it has handles and the lid locks on instead of screws..
