I'm getting the impression that this guy is a troll. He hasn't read a thing about the hobby... plus he's asking questions that beg for a whaling...

Yes, troll was my first thought.

Don't really understand the attraction myself. Must be single people who can't get an argument at home.

No just that bo had an oversized avatar. It stuck in my mind when Stoker asked him to make it smaller

Punkin, did you see Bo's spectacular hissy when we didn't keep jumping to his requests? Hard to forget. Sort of set the standard.

As to plastic stills...

After you have read all the topics about plastic stills and amazing still, then you have some options; agree that plastic is not the way to go, find very good scientific arguements in favor of plastic, or just go with plastic against any advise and without support and neglect your health and other's.

Bo was a real piece of work. When he came on here he was PM'ing me a lot. I'm no expert but I tried to set him straight. He just wasn't gonna try hard enough to get it. He didn't want it bad enough to make it happen for him self.

If you look back on his previous entries you'll see mention of him saying something like "this grasshopper is gonna learn to jump high" and "feel the sun shine." That was a response to a lecture I gave him in a PM telling him through the use of that analogy that he was gonna have to work hard to get to where he was trying to get to.

He did set a standard though for what could be called the "wrong approach." If I would have read this post earlier I would have posted here with one word; Bo?

I'm a newb myself, but I am quite surprised by the number of people who seem to think they can get great results without ANY research.

I followed the (now I know better) rather sad, and predictably bad, path of turbo wash/turbo sugar washes, expecting to make great tasting booze in 3-4 days.

I am VERY happy I found this exceptionally active and useful forum resource full of extremely useful advice for doing things, admittedly slower, but ultimately 1000% better.

I don't expect/plan to ever use a "turbo" product ever again. Every single drink I have made from a turbo wash has a .... taste.... to it. Every single UJSM (and just recently apple and raspberry) washes... have had a different kind of "taste".... a GOOD taste.

after what i have read on reusing throwaway (i.e not designed for reuse) plastic water bottles for liquid storage, then there is no way i would contemplate using plastic for cooking up a batch of booze

and i agree with belialNZ... this business is a steep learning curve but we all start somewhere

You can all go fuck yourselves. I'm new to this shit and was looking for a little advice. I never realized what snobs you distiller cocksuckerss could be (namely Adias and Punkin). I'd like to meet one of you so I could shove my boot up your ass! This is the novice distiller section right?

Uncle Geer, maybe you did get treated a little roughly. But it would seem that you didn't do your background reading, cause if you had you would have known that on this forum plastic in a still is seriously frowned upon (with the exception of a bit of Teflon thread tape, and some here don't approve of even that).

From the New Distillers Mini-FAQ sheet, the first article in the Novice Distillers section, right at the top of the page, can't miss it:
Q8. OK, I have read A7, but what about plastics?

A8. Plastics have no place in the distillation process (other than HDPE containers can be used in the fermentation process). Strong ethanol (especially HOT/BOILING and in vapor), is an extremely strong solvent. It will literally leach chemical out of many plastic products. Many are simply not safe to use, thus this community has simply taken the safe stance of stating “There is no safe usage of plastics in the distillation process”. Also, storage of high proof ethanol in plastic containers is not a good idea either. Some people do this, and even a few lower commercial products are stored in plastic. However, the plastics do leach out, and this community STRONGLY recommends not using plastics. Some places to be cautious (even if your still was commercially manufactured), is using plastic tubing to join the copper tubing, or plastic tubing on the “take off” of the still (i.e. after the vapor has been condensed). This subject seems to always generate lots of heated discussion. But this community is VERY serious about keeping plastics (of ALL kinds) out of the distillation process.
Can't say you weren't warned.

Stilling ain't like stamp collecting, buddy. You can get seriously hurt, or worse seriously hurt others, if you do it wrong. And that can have serious consequences for those of us who do practice safe distilling. So apart from trying to save your butt, we also kinda have a right to be a bit hard on folk who don't do their homework, or don't have a healthy respect for the potential dangers of this here wonderful hobby.
