ALCOBASE Kit
Hi All
I have recently purchased an ALCOBASE Kit from my local homebrew store. I have not started making it yet but I was wondering if anyone had any time on improving the flavour of it? I ask because since buying the product I have been told it does not come out very nice at all.
I do not have a still or any other equipment except what I use for making my beer.
Thanx

you could go the disappearing still route, which is bascially free. It'll probaby be better than raw alcobase, but it doesn't get you a very high quality prodcut compared to a pot still or even better a reflux. And as THM said you can make a still for very little $. My first still was a SS stockpot, one 3/8" compression ftting, 6ft of copper tubing coiled in an ice cream bucket and 4ft of latex tubbing for a gasket. With that setup, it would take me two runs to strip a carboy's worth of turboyeast wash. Better yet, read up on the website for alternative still constructions methods.

sluggerdog.. I guess that the reason that I asked if you were joking is that this forum is all about and is in the middle of a web site all about heating up fermented stuff to make the alcohol evaporate so that it can be distilled into spiritous libations... it seemed almost inconceivable that you could have found your way here to ask your question without somewhere along the way stumbling across the bit about alcohol evaporating if you heat it up.
