Everybody has a favorite, right?

Apologies if this has been done before, I couldn't find a thread on it, and anyway people might have collected new favorites by now.

Got this one at the Four Roses Distillery with my pops on the tour a few years back. The Four Roses etched in the center go clear to red when cold.

OK so no more using the android for posting pics.

Depends what Im drinking.

Brandy snifter on left for apple brandy, and often for whiskey too, easier and better to nose and see than the fancy expensive Glencairn glasses, next over. When Imthirsty I use the whiskey tumbler in the middle, those are nice Italian made crystal, got 6 at Goodwill for 0.50 each. 4th is the cute little crystal Kirsch glass, holds 1 oz., got 2 on ebay for 12 bucks and the cool old water glass far right I use for cordials with ice, like the Ginger Liquor.

These are mine.

The rock glass is cut heavy lead crystal by one of the top manufacturers and has a real nice feel to it.

The Eau de Vie is the one I just sip from and use for blending

The 1oz cordial is just right when you are savoring a tiny bit of something. It is quite old and fairly valuable. It is actually the only one I have ever come across.

I like drinking out of good glassware, it makes me feel fancy. :D

This is something I would expect to see in Jimbo's collection

I'm fairly boring and don't really give my glassware an elevated status because most of the rocks glasses are promotional pieces.

Though I would like to have a nicer set for sure.

This is my personal go-to, it belonged to my great aunt Eunice, as hokey as that sounds.

It makes a nice shot glass or a double, and is just perfect for sipping. It looks small in the pic, but holds close to 3 ounces.

That one looks to me like it might be late 1800s pressed glass. Ever look at it under a black light?

Do I look like a hippy to you?

Actually, I think there are some black lights on the air hockey table. What would I see? I've got some similar goblets as well.

Well if we go by your avatar then yes you look like quite a few hippies I have known. All hairy and looking at nothing in particular.

That is a cool glass.

My guess is in a dark room under black light you would see it glow just slightly with whats usually described as "a sickly green" That would indicate it is old pressed soda glass. The color is similar to the way Vaseline glass glows but not nearly as strong. A brilliant white glow is lead crystal or old "flint" glass. Modern, (after about 1920-30), glass will appear black. This applies to clear glass as different chemicals will effect the way it looks under black light in colored glass.

You have to look at it under UV-light, also refered to as "black light".
The wavelenght of it, will cause certain materials added in the meltingprocess, to "glow"..
You can buy a flashlight with UV on E-bay for a dollar or two.
Or...take it to your bank..i guarantee they have a UV-light source, they use it to test if money is counterfeit..

My wife really likes Sailor Jerry rum. What does it mean when she pours my rum into the glass she got with her un-opened Sailor Jerry bottle
