I am thinking about running my 1/4" outlet from my 2" boka still (that I have not built yet) through a section of 1/2" pipe with caps on the ends and tees with the output from my boka condenser running through to cool the distillate down. Anyone ever do this? How long should my 1/2" pipe be? I have no temperature data. I plan on using a pump rated at 530 gph to recirculate cooling water during my runs, using a propane burner to heat my 15 gallon keg boiler.
Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Liebig length for 2" boka?
It depends on your energy input, your energy loss (f e bad insulated column) and if you want to run the boka with completely open valve too.
In can give you the data of my 2" Liquid Management:
Max energy input: 2.6kW hotplate
Liebig dimensions: Jacket lenghth: 30cm, inner diameter of the inner tube: 6mm (something between 1/8 and 1/4")
With completely open valve, my distillate comes outtoo warm. So for a rebuild I would take 10cm longer.
-if you have similar energy input and you want it run completely open, 30cm would fit, because the diameter of your inner tube is a bit larger.
-if you take twice energy input (with 2" it's only possible without packing) you need 60cm or better a larger diameter
-if you only do neutral spirits, the valve will never be totally open, so the liebig can be shorter.

Re: Liebig length for 2" boka?
Being it's only a secondary cooler it doesn't have to be very big. I use a 12" one on a 3" Boka and it's fine. I run the water to the liebig first, then to the condenser.
The outlet on the 3" column is 1/2'' and it runs through a 3/4" jacket.

+1
Mine also is under a foot on a 3". Works great.

My 2 cents is to use a larger output than 1/4" too. When you want to run off tails or strip you will find the valve that fits 1/4" is a choke piont.
