Look up Superior Bar and Grill....Great mexican food and THE BEST margaritas!!! I had 2 and man...i was ~good to go~. Love that place...Superior the steakhouse is pretty pricey though so go to the bar and grill...there are some casinos in shreveport to lose some money at, but they too have good food. ALso good place to eat--Ralph and Kackoo's....wife said it was great...personally never been there, but i trust her.

I"ll get back to ya if i can think of anyting else...I'm originally from a town 45 mins east of there, but live in OK right now. Moving to FL within the next 2 months

Whoa!!! The dawg's in town!! Superior and R&K's are good choices (R&K's is a little too much on the "fried" side for my tastes, though), casinos have good food--another of my favorites is the Olive Street Bistro. We're in the midst of a very early Mardi Gras season...the two "major" parades (Gemini and Centaur) are toward the end of the month. But IMO the best parade is the Highland, a nice neighborhood affair--I think it's Feb. 3rd. Our Mardi Gras isn't "pervy" like NOLA's, so if you have family come over for a visit, you won't be embarrassed. Grab yourself a Shreveport Times on Friday, there's an insert section full of "happenings". We got some cool museums (Meadows at Centenary, the Norton has a great collection of Western Art), if you like that sort of thing, the Doobies are coming mid-February, Kid Rock about the same time, if you like THAT sort ( ).

We ought to meet up, I'll give you a tour of our booze-laden facilities!! PM me if you want...finding a suitable time might be a problem--I take myself home to the country soon as I'm done with work...

I'd love to see your workplace Chemist... I'm working from about 5:30 am till about 7 pm every weekday so that probably won't happen.

Ralph and Kackoos was just down the street from where I was staying for the first week. I've since moved out to Minden... a small town about 30 miles east of Bossier. It's nice and quiet here... folks are really friendly. Sure makes me miss home tho.... gotta keep getting those paychecks :D :D :D

I set up a big batch of oatmeal and rye before I left home. Looking forward to that when I get back.

Yeah, that timing wouldn't work out very well! But if it looks like I'm gonna be here one weekend, I'll shoot you a pm and you can decide if the drive from Minden is something you want to do...it's not so bad, I go to church in Minden, interstate all the way!!

Minden has a nice little Mardi Gras parade, themselves...

Years ago when I was working near there Shreveport had a horse track. I don't know if it is still there or not, or if it is in season or not though.

It's still there, run by Harrah's now. I don't think it's the 'season', though, but the casino's always open. Lived here fifteen years, never been!!
