$10 Liebig

Post by Maxximus Flavius »

I'm getting ready for an actual flavour spirit (rum) run rather than just a quick strip and rerun through the Boka column. I thought it valuable to watch the decreasing alcohol percentage. I tried this once before and it was a fail due to using the wrong adhesive on the endcaps. Hey, it's all I had. This time I let it run under our high pressure municipal water supply with nary a leak to be found.

Anyway, I coiled about a meter of 1/4" copper tubing.

Drilled out a 1/4" compression fitting and slide the tubing through. Order of assembly is important. As well, don't lock down the compression fitting until the very last.

Drill and tap all holes for a 1/4" NPT. I have used these quick connect truck air brake fittings and lines exclusively. They're cheap and seal perfectly after multiple disconnects. I can knock everything down or reconfigure in minutes.

A Mikalor hose clamp secures the assembly to the support strap I have attached the the boiler. That strap is used to stabilize the very long product output line when in reflux mode.

I've placed it first in the cooling circuit. My thinking is the added turbulence with the coil should improve efficiency. Besides, I saw some photo's like it on google images:)

Nice. I just pushed a bit of 6mm tube through a bit of garden hose. Bit of silicon and some tape and it's sweet as.
