how thick the copper need to be for the bottom....if say you making copper still from sheet template?
_translation from Italian to sort of english_: if you are bulding a still from Pinto's template of 6 gal, how thick does the bottom of the still need to be for direct heat (ie.propane/gas)? It doesn't say.
This from my friend from Venice.

The one I just constructed and tested with direct heat is .032"(.812mm) or 20 gauge. As long as there is liquid in the bottom, it will never get hot enough to melt the solder.

No.
One other way to purchase "some" sheet metal, is in ounces per sq ft.
Here are the xref information for copper 110 sheeting:
0.00405" (3 OZ.)
0.00675" (5 OZ.)
0.0135" (28 GA.) (10 OZ.)
0.0162" (27 GA.) (12 OZ.)
0.0216" (24 GA.) (16 OZ.)
0.027" (22 GA.) (20 OZ.)
0.032" (21 GA.) (24 OZ.)
0.043" (19 GA.) (32 OZ.)
0.048" (18 GA.) (36 OZ.)
0.0647" (16 GA.) (48 OZ.)
0.086" (14 GA.) (64 OZ.)
0.097" (13 GA.) (72 OZ.)
So, pint is using 24 oz or 21 gauge sheeting.
