Hello from Vancouver

Hello everyone,
I have been researching and reading up for quite awhile on the site and figured I should actually sign up and do a welcome message. I have built a boka still (3 feet of packing in a 2" column) and have been running it with Rad's all bran recipe with initially poor results but with more reading and tries (and re-distilling poor results) I have recently been getting some very good neutrals.
I want to thank everyone that has provided all the great information on this site, its been invaluable to me as I have stumbled my way to making good product.
Now that I can consistently make reasonable neutrals I'm going to start to make a lot of different infusions, just soaking spices or hanging citrus to try to make some interesting blends. Also wanting to switch to a keg boiler (with heating elements) from the pot and induction element that I use today.

you'll love electric. try some AG, even if you turn it into vodka.

Thanks, I have been looking at some of the corn recipes which look pretty interesting. The palinka posts are very interesting as well but not the right season for that.
Just have to find myself a keg and get started on the electric transition, I'm looking forward to that.

Welcome van_greg,
I too went with a 15 Gal SS Keg and have never looked back. I built a modular 2" CCVM and love the diversity that I get with it. Looking to build a 3" CCVM now to get more volumn and cut down run time. Anyway, glad you are here. This site has been a wealth of info for anyone willing to do the work to research it. Sounds as if you have.

Welcome, & hello from the Valley!
You'll love the element in the keg, I also started off with a 5 gallon pot on the induction plate. It worked, but left much to be desired as I discovered after making the switch to a strong element & controller.

hey there...I'm in your neck of the woods.... if you ever what to trade a small sample let me know...I'm running a simple beer keg pot still...mainly bourbon, gin and rum.....welcome aboard...

Welcome from ontario.
If you want amazing vodka/neutral your going to want to go ag. Corn or wheat work amazingly well and are piss simple once you get the process under control. If you're already rebuilding you may consider doing a flute if you can afford to (can be done super cheap too) or spread the cost/build over time.
Hell go all out. Steam cook grains. Steam strip /single run on a flute for amazing results.
My 2 cents anyways.

@grappa-gringo once I start to make something other than vodka or manage to get some interesting infusions I'll let you know.
@yakattack - I have been looking at the perforated plate stills, didn't think that building a still would have been all that much fun but I really enjoyed it so the build bug has apparently hit. I'm currently space limited (small apartment) so doing large builds aren't really on the cards right now though unfortunately. Once I get the keg still up and running I might rethink the column though, 3" seems pretty appealing (as does a pot still).
