Hello from the NW USA

Post by Old Gray Dog »

Hello All,
I’ve enjoyed reading the contributions of others to this site and have also learned a great deal from it. This is my first posting to the site. I’ve been distilling for the last three winters. I am from the great NW and only distill in the winter since I’d rather be outdoors when the weather is so fine the rest of the year. As I write this I am in the middle of my 24th still run. My rig is a home built programmable logic controller automated pot still of 6.5 gallon capacity. I’ve cooked up several of the recipes from the Tried and True recipe topic area but most frequently settle for some variant of the DWWG. The pot is a stainless steel kettle of 6.5 gallons heated with a 230 volt, 4500 watt water heater element.

Welcome Old Gray Dog,
Western Wa here, Nice setup. A lot of people seem to be starting to go the automatic type rout lately. It would be nice to see a thread on the workings of it.
