Rum wash question

Is it typical for a molasses/brown sugar wash to bot finish below 1.000?

My last 3 had SG of 1.084-1.086 and finished at about 1.010-1.012.

Just wondering if this is usual due to the amount of unfermentables in molasses.

(7 liter molasses, 6 kg sugar upto 50 liter, 1 pk ec1118 with 15 gm red star yeast.)

Yep. It is normal. The unfermentables will scew it.

Perfectly normal. I just give them at least a day's rest for flavor development after the SG stops dropping.

Also if and when you start adding dunder in to your wash it will finish even higher.
I make mine so thick and heavy a hydrometer is unreliable, I just go by the recipe and don't worry about it.
If I get great yeast activity for a week I'm sure it's done and so far that's been working.
I run it and always get the amount of alcohol out that I calculate should be in the wash.

10 days to finish @ 1.012... Now to replace my alcoholometer. A guy just can't take 15 min. off while stillin' a spirit run. Damn.
