I have colected ~5 lbs of halloween candy. This is the "sugar" candy like Smarties, jaw breakers, Dumb-dumbs and Sweet Tarts. This is not the good stuff like Hershey's or Snickers or any other chocolate.

Anyone have expierence with mashing this kind of sugar?

What dunder said. There's probably a lot of preservatives in candy.

A friend suggested I put a peppermint candy is some distilled spirit to favor it....All I can say is go for it. Whats it going to cost you other than your time? Perhaps melt it down with some water and add it to a mash, but don't ask me, I don't know jack. I do know that sugar and yeast equals alcohol.

Just a dumb-ass giving his thoughts.

Experimentation is good. Thomas Edison said "I think I will go fly a kite"

A fireball flavored swill, um?

Isn't that the object?

When I was younger I went coon hunting, the dogs got on a trail, but we never killed the damn thing. Had him treed too. Just as well, we would have just given it to a family down the road.

How do you post pics on here?

How did it turn out? I've got about six pounds of Swedish fish I'd like to brew up.

My inlaws brought them for my kids when they were visiting...

I stewed them up with some salt water taffy, marshmallows, and brown sugar. Turned out tasty! I made it all up into apple pie.

Cheers,

Gonna help resurrect, and ask about the good candy. Got hold of a place that sells ground up rejects from the candy factory (All kinds). I can buy quite a bit for nothing. Actually got 260# of crushed candy and 340# of ground corn for $65, but anyway... was wanting to test the consensus of using the candy in place of sugar for neutral or perhaps trying a (dare I say it) "candied" whisky??? :econfused:

This is from tennessee. Check around. Ask some of the local cattle/livestock raisers. They are usually willing to help!
