Non GMO corn coop

I just got a line on GMO free corn milled to my spec, which creates a great filter bed and offers the highest return.
90% of which is 1/8th inch or smaller. It is grown by the Ute Mtn. tribe just south of here. They know their corn.
If anyone would like to coop lets talk.

COOP is actually one word. No chickens out here. Too many predators and not worth the trouble. I can get fresh eggs with a howdy neighbor, brought you something.

I just read an active thread on ADI about GMO free grain (corn was a popular choice of conversation) and saw interest from some of the distillers. It may be worth putting a shout out there.

Good on you for supporting local farmers Woodshed.

I'm buying for sure, but the more at one time the better.
Can get it whole kernel as well. I will be malting some in the next week to compare with my usual source.

My county CO-OP is about 200 yards from my office and they definitely spell it with the hyphen, and so do all the other ones around here, but after looking it up it seems that either is acceptable. I always assumed it was only hyphenated. Learn something new everyday

Nice, Woodshed, I guess most people know I'm one of those anti GMO nutcases :moresarcasm: so I don't do anything with corn. Kind of makes me wish I were closer to you so I could take advantage. I will be interested in seeing how it compares to other corns available.

I'm fortunate that my cousins only grow non gmo corn. Many of the farmers in the area are starting to see the disadvantages of gmo corn one being the $350 plus cost for a 50# bag of seed

isn't all corn GMO. It doesn't grow by itself in nature without man.

That is an argument used often to try to confuse people. GMO is generally referring to Genetically engineered plants, not hybridized plants, the genetic hybridization of a plant technically does modify it but it also is technically possible that it could happen naturally. GMO as has become used in referring to genetically engineered plants could not be achieved naturally.

GMO corn is now modified to kill any insect attacking it, I for one would not and will not eat or drink it. If it kills bugs, what's it going to do to you?

The debate about GMO has already played out a couple times, here is one thread about it http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... ilit=+corn
