And finally yesterday I got to do the Spirit run of my rum. It came from a 40l wash with 6l biological molasses, 4kg raw brown sugar. The strip yielded 10l @ 49%ABV, I diluted it to 25%ABV and slowly ran it.
Spirit run took 4 hours. The final yield after cuts was very high, a little less than 5l @ 69%ABV I expected something less, was positively impressed. What I am not so impressed with is the taste: I diluted one bottle to 40%ABV to drink it white while I expect to oak and boost with BB "black rum essence" most of the rest. Well, this young white rum is not very tasty. The rum smell, taste and aftertaste is there, no doubt about it, but it is a little faint, almost watery, and it is not so strong as I would have liked.
Now I wish I had kept some dunder from this wash in order to use it in the next one....
