Washing your still
I have just finished reading the
Home Distillation Handbook by Ola Norrman
available from Gert Strand
[strand@partyman.se]
A lot of good stuff and very helpful
In the section called distillation it recommends that after you finish distilling you should
1) wash your pot -- sounds OK to me
2) wash your column and column filling with water and detergent --
would this be OK
if so what detergent

I give mine a rinse with tap water, that is it....I've never noticed any odd flavours. Those folks that run neutrals may have a different opinion.
It is most absurdly said, in popular language, of any man, that he is disguised in liquor; for, on the contrary, most men are disguised by sobriety. ~Thomas de Quincy, Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, 1856

I'm pretty new here so I'm basing my comments on what other experienced fellas are telling me about cleaning.
The first guy i asked told me had never cleaned it with anything other than warm water in 20 years and another guy that has been going for 9 odd years swears Coke Cola flushed through strips pipes, columns and the pot beautifully?? Comments welcome?

Soft sponge and baking soda for cleaning my copper pot. I kept the coil backfilled with water between runs. Main point I remember is to NOT scrub it down to shiny copper inside. Let the inside age and get a nice patina on it. Washed the old ceramic crocks and all other implements the same way, baking soda on a soft sponge. Easy to wash off and wouldn’t affect anything if a little was left behind.
