So we will be mashing and stilling in a barn a cross the street from a cop. It is a little risky but the property owner isn't fond of the cop, and the cop isn't permitted on the property any time he wants and so on. They aren't on bad terms though. Would you take this risk?

Way to close ...Its his job to be a 'sheet-sniffer' and a paid 'dime-dropper'.
Theres an easy solution, tho ya'll will have to do your due diligence and figure out a full proof plan of success ...Good luck.

'The property owner doesn't like the cop ." What more do you need ? Don't do it there ........ He don't like the owner , you are guilty by association . All he needs is an excuse . Don't get me wrong . My Son-In-Law is a cop and helps me from time to time . He and his cop buddies love what I make . He is the only one knows where he gets his . Situation you describe is disaster waiting to happen .

I may or may not have kin that's a D and he may or may not still so maybe I trust him. Some cops would bust their Nana for jay walking, if ya lucky like me you've met your share of them. I'd be pretty careful, maybe your landlord is a good judge of character.

You just lost credibility with me . That little regard for the landowner demonstrates that you are someone I don't care to associate with .

"what are all those jars over there?"
"its just high proof alcohol for cleaning my brewery."
"why do some have wood in them?"
"i just really like my brew pots to smell like oak. its just a great fragrance"

or
"what are all those jars over there?"
"its a strong clear beer, would you like to try some?"

There is a cop in my neighborhood that is completely aware of illegal activity taking place in his neighbors house. It has been this way for over a decade now I would guess. He just minds his own business.

it askes the age old question, if a cop is in your neibourhood and off duty is he still a cop?

years years years ago, when I got out of the service,
my neighbor across the street was a long haired biker guy. We talked, exchanged a little doobage.
one day i was standing in his garage when a unmarked popo car pulled up.
A woman got out wearing a badge and gun.
His old lady was a homicide detective ..I was freaking out.
Micky only comment.
long as you aint kilt nobody, shes cool

I assume most cops would not give a shit unless you sold and would not bother with you unless onduty.

Where I grew up the local police man had a still himself.
