Whats the hardest part?

Post by bbok »

I am still in the process of reading and accumulating parts and I see all sorts of veterans offering up great suggestions but I am curious to know what you struggle with? Whats the hardest part or running your rig? planning for the next rig? or is it the struggle to find the perfect recipe? cleanup? ferments? just wondering

The hardest part is resisting logging onto to HD when I have so much other crap to do.

I have to agree with T-Pee.

^^This.

To me, this is one thing that you can't pick up by simply reading HD. It does require some practice to get close and a lot of experience to get it right.

Finding the time is hard. Not getting too drunk too often is another.
Not having anyone close around that distills to talk with. That's hard too.
Triple distilling, just because I wanna drink not watch it drip.
Making vodka in a pot still...see above^
Doing anything besides hanging out here and distilling.
Going grocery shopping after learning what all you can make booze from...
Eating fruit loops once you've drank fruit loops
Eating fruits.
". Corn
". Rye bread
Driving the still is easier than the ^^^^^so is fermenting
Hell,so was convincing the wife that she liked rum instead of vodka.

- Patience
-Making cuts

I haven't made a drop yet but those are 2 that worry me.

Maybe a better question would have been "What would you change about what you do right now"?

More fermenters and another pump and a long enough hose so that I don't have to carry buckets and pour into a funnel to fill my boiler.
Remember not to blow yourself up,you only get to forget once!

A great ferment will taste good on any still. Learn to ferment...

For me, it's finding time. Between wife, kids, job, farming on the side, hobbies unfortunately sometimes have to take a back seat.

Clean up sucks for me. I can't stand cleaning up the baked on flour. I think learning how to cut and making cuts is fun. Cause I git to taste too!
