hey folks, someone or a few of you want to help test? install a jabber client
http://www.jabber.org/software/clients.html and try to connect to
http://homedistiller.org onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow. the www is important in the hostname! connect and create an account so we can check this out. i'm not sure if it's what we want for a chat.
as i say, it can handle AIM, YM and other chat clients, eventually. for now i just want to test it as a chat.

Works fine for me. The only problem is there's never anybody in the room.

i havent had time to mess with the chat lately. can you create your own room? i can connect. i'm still not sure this is the chat we want. babylon is nice with its real-time doodle but requires java. i havent investigated any other open source chats other than IRC which is hardly intuitive. jabber claims that all sorts of clients can connect, provided i set it up to do so. i dont want to put in that work unless jabber is the final choice.

Last time I looked (two days ago) Jabber's main website was partially disabled as an intrusion countermeasure.
None of the pages linking to client downloads or acct setup were online.
exactly

Fourway, you've found the main reason I can't figure things out. The jabberd (daemon) is in 5 different binaries, all requiring unique modifications, and none of their documentation works at the moment. I can only glean so much using 'grep' and 'strings' and reading source code.

I'd give them a big fat wait and see.
