Greetings from Auckland NZ

Post by sweetfa »

I've been playing around with an airstill for a few months and have developed quite an interest.

My staple over the last 20 years has been brewing beer for fun and just plain economics, spirits is an entirely different animal but well worth the challenge.

Goals - Get a better understanding of how each part of the process really works. I appreciate that Airstills are deemed to be inferior but to start with it has been great for me even with the odd setback. Moving forward I would like to make my own still from scratch as I'm one to adapt pretty much what ever I can lay my hands on.

I've used a lot of commercial yeast packages but put down my first Birdwatchers wash with a recipe I found on this forum, it's currently bubbling away and I must admit it has a far more pleasant aroma than others I've used.

Appreciate all the great knowledge in here and I'll be spending many winter nights no doubt reading.

Cheers

Greetings sweetfa, you have arrived at the best place in the world to learn distilling! All that's required is the willingness to read and study. You've already learned about tried and true recipes, they work! And are easy. One place we consider mandatory is reading crankys " a little spoon feeding for new distillers" in novices. You'll find it at the top. Read, read, read, and enjoy the forums!
