I use Grainland Select wet cob. Remember that cob (corn, oats, barely) is another name for sweet feed.

Re: Looking at making a sweet feed Mash
Look at the description. ........
"Producer's Pride 12% Sweet Feed is a 12%-protein textured economy feed that is excellent for cattle and for maintenance and lightly worked mature horses on good quality forage. It is comprised of fortified pellets mixed with high-quality, wholesome grains."
It says it is made of pellets right in the description. The Tractor Supply feed is just called "All Grain" as stated in the link that SS provided, if you can find it. They still list it on the website with the description of COB and mollases just like you want.
12% Sweet Feed is well documented to have pellets in it. Cut the bag open in the store and look at it.

Tractor supply quit handling the non-pelletized, I went through this back in January.
FullySilenced is spot on... go with the Manna. They'll deliver it right to your door, no fuss. I make 5 gallons of mash from it a week.

Why not make your own sweetfeed. It is just COB with molasses. COB (Corn: http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/produc ... _vc=-10005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow Rolled Oats: http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/produc ... _vc=-10005" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow Barley from most home brew shops or other "real" feed stores - I can never find it at TSC). Then a little molasses to your liking. Comes out to be a bit cheaper and you can make however much you want.
The rolled oats are better than regular oats (can't recall WHY exactly, maybe someone here can fill us in) and the Molasses can be either regular or feed. Unsulphered. Proprionic acid - well...that's a tougher one... lets just say I have gotten it to work with the PA..but it was a bitch.

The formula is somewhere in the sweetfeed post: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 14&t=14586
Thats the beauty of it though... it is however much you want it to be. Just enough to touch all the grain...but not soak it is probably a good guideline. Others with more experience might chime in here too.
If you are using the premix sweetfeed you don't need it.... it doesn't stop you from adding it if you like it though. It's a matter of preference.

Re: Looking at making a sweet feed Mash
The Manna that FS posted is available for shipping from Walmart now. They also have 2.5 gallon jugs of molasses if you like rum. I got the combo for the over $49 free shipping to my house deal!
The Manna is even the original Sweet Feed recipe Tater lists in the second post of the sweet feed thread.

Ok Kruse is one of the best grain suppliers I have seen , very good quality and clean grains. http://ohkruse.com/livestock.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow
Check out the 4 way mix. The list of ingredients reads . rolled corn, rolled barley, recleaned oats and molasses. Good stuff. You can even cook it and convert it with liquid enzymes if you want to do a All Grain mash with no sugar.

Damn, Corene, I wish we had that option around here. All I could find was Blue Seal's Pacer, which I'm not too fond of out of the pipe.
It could just be that I don't like SF, I have no basis for comparison.

Finally Picked up my COB With molasses, I am looking to start my mash on sunday and then still it that next week on sunday is that to much time or should I wait acouple more days before I put my mash together. I do not have a refractometer to check if it is 1.000 I only have that sunday as I work every other day. Is it gonna be bad to sit for alittle.I do have a Hydrometer but that is to check my proof

Re: Looking at making a sweet feed Mash
You can start whenever you're ready to start.... I would start sooner than later because these things always seem to take a little longer than I expect them to take. If the ferment finishes and you can't distill it immediately, that's OK... as long as it is covered and undisturbed it should keep a while (I've gone as long as a week or 2 in covered pails) plus letting it rest a little longer will allow it to clear more which some people (myself included) prefer. It lets all the yeast and sediment drop.bshack618 wrote:Finally Picked up my COB With molasses, I am looking to start my mash on sunday and then still it that next week on sunday is that to much time or should I wait acouple more days before I put my mash together. You don't necessairily need a refractometer..but they are cheap and nice. A hydrometer will work too... cheaper but so so fragile. If you let it sit until it stops bubbling and starts to clear... then you got what ya got...no measurement needed (I prefer to measure myself...neurotic)
Your Hydrometer... is it an alcoholmeter(PROOF and Tralle)?

Re: Looking at making a sweet feed Mash
Oh, and also -- since you're making it with sugar, and not cooking/mashing with enzymes or barley (for enzymes), what you're making is a "wash," not a "mash."
I'm not trying to be pedantic or correct you or anything, it's just good to get familiar with the terminology.
