Overhead corn mixer

OK, so this is my set-up for stirring corn and scratch grains. It includes a switch to the outlet that powers the drill in case I need to shut it off quickly. Otherwise, the third picture shows my thumbscrew that pushes the trigger on the drill so I can achieve very precise speed.

I use is a "commercially made" cement/grout/paint mixer, that I adapted for use with my 22 Gallon stainless mash pot. But either way, it beats the heck out of stirring that stiff stuff by hand. I'm getting too old for all that manual labor crap...

Which ones quieter?

I know it seems trivial but I'm looking for something that won't wake the wife and kids up when I turn it on.

My "mash mixer" motor is quieter than any of my electric drills.

Nice set-up, Ephoria. I'm sure yours is quieter than mine, although for a 1/2" drill, mine is relatively quiet. Fortunately for me, my "laboratory" is my basement, so very little noise from there gets detected in the house above. But, as Euphoria says, it sure beats trying to stir that stuff by hand. My process is now very run-of-the-mill and I haven't scorched a batch in months.

Nice set up both of you. I plan to use a small bench top drill press to stir mine. I want that mainly due to how loud all my hand drills are. I'll show the set up when I ever get it together.

Be careful Brutal most of those small bench drill presses run at excessive RPM's
