Brewersfriend.com

Post by rgreen2002 »

I was wondering who uses Brewersfriend.com for calculating their all grain SG and other calcs? I feel like while I love it and use it frequently, I am always a little off. I'm trying to figure out why... There are of course several reasons possible (I steam mash and guess at the amount of water transferred, the efficiency, conversion %, etc) but the first one I wonder is the fact that there is no "cracked corn" category. I use Flaked corn to calculate winch has a PPG of 40, a little higher than the cracked corn PPG I have seen here (between 30-35). My calculated SG is usually about 0.01 or so off and I was wondering if this could be the source...

Any thoughts on Brewersfriend.com with cracked corn? Is this as close as everyone gets and I should just stop worrying...
