Re-use your old casks for beer

I had used my casks three times and was noticing that the flavor was much depleted by round 3 in my corn whiskey so I filled one (2 liter) with Populuxe Octoberfest beer and the other (1 liter) with Guinness and let them sit for about a week. Delicious! The beer is considerably darker than when it went in. I have since refilled the cask with whiskey and plan to cycle back and forth a few times between whiskey and various beers - finally I'll probably make barreled Manhattans as the final step before I am completely done with them. Note that the pressure from the octoberfest carbonation has pushed out some of this oaky-sweet tar. Maybe the casks are not as depleted as I thought but still, very tasty beer.
