Mesh inside SS tubing

Post by Mudturtle »

Probably a dumb question, but my entire rig is ss. Bout the only way I could get copper on the vapor path would be to put a little in the tubing from the pot to thumper and thumper to condenser. Worried about a blockage doing that. Thought of just putting a small gauge copper wire through it, but they may just be useless.

Anyone have a better approach for my situation short of copper cladding the tubing or cutting out the ss tubing and replacing with copper? I'm stumped.

At least Bagasso and me, we have success placing copper not in the vapor path but in the mash or the low wines.

Or in the boiler or the thumper perhaps is possible too.

Hey thanks I never thought of that. You hear so much about the vapor path it doesn't dawn on you to try a different approach. I've got some scrap copper laying around from replacing my gas line to the house, I'll cut a couple 8 inch to foot long sections and toss a couple in the boiler and thumper with my run today. Another great example of Occam's razor :)

id put it inside the pipe on the "out" of side of the thumper. shouldnt have any worries of blockage at that point.

I wouldn't even consider it packing . Just a very loose roll inserted in the vapor path . Nothing tight enough to pose a restriction problem .

Alright I'll try that out tonight if I don't go into a turkey induced coma :). A turkey just doesn't taste as good if the method of cooking the turkey doesn't have a good chance of killing you painfully.
