Hey guys and gals!
I've been brewing beer for a long time (extract, with AG buddies who are more anal than I am) and decided to get my toes wet into this world, as I am a fan of single malts, good rum, and a dandy neutral.
I got an Airstill as a little starter unit just to play around with, but I know that isn't what I really want to do in the long run. Since then, of course, I have been try ing to do a lot of reading here, (even the stuff that is pretty well over my head, it seems).
I think I will build a couple of columns to suit my needs.
Been reading a lot, already made a mistake(ish).

Welcome GSP! You seem to be doing ok, even if you'll be hampered a bit by your current equipment.

Greetings...
I'm pretty sure that Airstill won't keep you happy very long.
Except for the neutral, I would recommend starting with a pot still.
It's easy to build, will deliver Rum and Whiskey, can be built relatively low cost and...it's a great tool for stripping ferments (also for your neutral).
Have fun and stay safe..
