Campari-like aperitif

Hello everyone. I'm looking to make a campari/aperol/bruto americano -style aperitif. I know that the big players are bitter orange, gentian, and a wood of some kind (cascara sagrada), along with some spices like allspice and nutmeg. Any other things I should be considering? Thanks!
