New build mods

Hi all. I have seen a few small pot stills run and have been captivated by it. I have done a lot of reading (I have probably read and researched for a year or so), about the different types of stills and builds that people have posted about. I am about ready to build the stillmaker valved reflux still with a few mods based on some of your suggestions. I plan on using a keg as my pot with a sanke clamp to attach my 2" column. One change I plan on is to not use a valve on the reflux return tube and just let it stick up in the condenser section about 1/4". Using the product valve to control reflux. I also plan on using a 2" double helix condenser about 12" long instead of the single wound 3" version in the drawings. Does anyone have any further suggestions on how to better modify this unit and does my plans sound like I'm heading in the right direction?

Welcome, Daveman69, I think you will find everything you need to build a successful still right here at HD.
Specific questions about your plans should be posted under the appropriate topics as the welcome center is reserved for giving us a bit of an introduction about yourself, your background, and a general idea of your experience level.
Good luck with your project, and take your time doing the research here to avoid going to far in a direction that might not be best for your goals.

Thankyou MC. I have been a member for a while but have never posted. For those interested, as I've stated I've only watched a few pot stills run. I have never tried myself. I also live in the US. I don't really have much to say about myself except I'm retired and am very interested in this hobby. I have gotten a lot of inspiration just reading some of the posts and answers I have read here. You seem to be a very helpful and supportive group and proud to be part of it. I will do my best to direct my questions under the appropriate topics.
