Hi folks,

I have to say, this forum and HD website are awesome. Plenty of knowledge collected together.
Nice, helpful people with the same interest.
I'm happy to be here.
So, first of all, English is not my mother language, please accept my apologise in advance if I write something nonsense, bad grammar, wrong wording etc...
However, please feel free to correct me, it would be a big help to me to learn.
A little bit about me: First memory: 35 years ago, in our panel flat (3rd floor) my dad cooking something in an old aluminium milk can (20L), copper spiral hanging out of the top going trough on a plastic bag full of water and dripping at the end.
When I close my eyes "still" seeing the picture... :)

I built my own still, SS, 22L boiler, 28mm 1ft copper pipe, old copper water pitcher for dephlegmator on top. Mainly for rum, fruit snaps. Whisky later, maybe.
It's working, used 5 times so far. Good flavour, smell, strong ABV (80%) at start from 8-10% wash.
That's all for now.

Thanks

Welcome  . Don't be surprised if you have more problems understanding us hillbillies than the other native English language speakers posting here . It's a dialect thing . We will do what we can to explain what ever you question .
You are already multilingual . You are ahead of us .
A local sage once questioned us on how we could consider ourselves 'higher animals' when our dogs could understand English and we couldn't speak dog . This is posted as humor and not as a cut . I hope you take it as such .
Anyhow , welcome

Truckinbutch said, 'It's a dialect thing'.

Yep.
He once said,'I could care less [what you do...]
Being Australian I had to think about that.
We would say,'I couldn't care less '

Exactly the same meaning.

(Seriously, best wishes, Truck. I always enjoy your commments...)

Welcome to the forum!

I don't usually pull people up on spelling etc, I figure that half the posts here are made while sampling our own wares, but since you specifically asked to be corrected to help you learn - it should be "Please accept my apologies in advance..."

Good luck, have fun, stay safe :-)

Just a little modification before start my rum run...
I know, it's not the best looking welding but will do the job.

Just a thought. Collect into glass. High proof into plastic, not a good or safe practice. Looks like you put some work into yer rig. Enjoy the forum.

+1 on the ditch the plastic message, but you've already responded to that issue.

I see from your plug sockets that you're in the UK (or somewhere else with the same plugs) - so hello :-)

For your rum upgrade, the mod you have done will cause some reflux which will raise the abv of the output but reduce the flavour. Usually in a rum you want more flavour, not less - is that what you're aiming for?

The routing of the water will also have an affect... try to keep a gradient of cold at the output to hot at the input for best results.

Interesting info but since it is no longer a welcome I am going to lock the thread and info can continue in the appropriate area.
