First Run for me and in a New Still

Post by IRONHEAD272 »

First I would like to say how helpful this forum has been. I have read until I am crosseyed...lol But I feel I have a much better chance at success at an earlier stage because of it.

My question is this. I have read that in a new copper still you have to make a "wasted run" to clean the still of flux and other impurities. My still is all stainless steel(Mile Hi). Do I need to waste a run of alcohol for that or would it be sufficient to run vinegar and water through it(as I have read many people do)?

I am going out of town for a week and will have my wash clearing while I am gone. I planned on running it when I get back next weekend. So tell me what you guys think.
