Going to give this a try when I get home on the larger oysters.

Hopefully ok to post this, but this is where I got them: https://grandislerestaurant.com/ and there’s a few pictures of how they are served in google maps under the “menu”.

I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.
That’s it. No more reading!

Call me crazy but the first shrimping opening of the season is this weekend so I am going out to battle the crowds. Heading out Thursday but the tides are not great so will travel to my shrimp spot and shrimp Friday through Sunday coming home Monday.

I'm really looking forward to a few lovely fresh mackerel this summer caught on the light lure setup off the Welsh coast.
Home, head and tail, gut and clean, steamed in foil parcels with a splash of cider/wine/vinegar and a dab of really salty butter, hard to beat!

Not quite shrimping, but, just went for a little hike with the young one and brought the 4' sprear. Nabbed 6 Tahitian prawn in less than 10 min.

Limited on shrimp all four openings. Largest single pull was 184 shrimp.
Re: Shrimping and fishing
Just got back from another shrimping trip with my wife, son and granddaughter. 3 days of shrimping and ended with 10 limits.
Below is on of several 5 gallon buckets we filled with one or two pulls.

We remove the heads and freeze them in the shell with quart freezer containers in water. Usually about 30 per container. That is about enough for two for a dinner. We also share with family members that go out and help with the pulling. We usually freeze over 1000 a year and we eat it over the year. It freezes well as we have found containers in the back of the freezer three years later and still good.

First time out crabbing today. We had 4 licenses on board but ended up with 3 limits in 3 hours. Not bad, great weather no problems and spent it with our sons in laws from Virginia that are out visiting.

Nice Bushman glad you still have crab up your way. I haven't tried the Canal for the last couple of years but several years ago it just dried up in the southern parts. Sad wouldn't even get any females or smalls just an occasional rock crab. Don't know what happened or if any have ever came back.
Sometimes I wonder why is that Frisbee getting bigger......and then it hits me.

They closed the Union area 4 or 5 years ago as the oxygen levels were low. Still closed.

Re: Shrimping and fishing
Yearly camp trip on Hood Canal had a blast 4 nights didn't bring a boat so no fishing but did manage to get a few oysters. Smoked and caned them yesterday, quite a job but well worth it. They came out great a total of 31 half pints, go great with a beer or a coctail.

Will be at our fractional ownership on Hood Canal end of the week through the middle of next week. I will also harvest oysters and clams off our beach.

Bushman you are making me homesick for the coast! What did you smoke your oysters with, Alder?
