in Pugi's Rum recipe when on the spirit run should I be upping the temperature as high as possible to push as much of the rum oils as possible?

Won't do any good. The low wines will boil at a temperature defined by the alcohol content in the wash, not a thermometer reading. If you don't understand this, then perhaps you need to do more (fundamental) reading.

If you're running a potstill, adjust the heat input to give you the proper output flow. If you're running a reflux still, adjust the heat input to reflux as much (or as little) as necessary to produce the desired output proof, provided your reflux condenser can manage the heat input.

Bottomline....you won't be able to control the temperature of the boil or vapor, so the thermometer isn't of much use.

i obviously did not think the question through it was just i am completely unfamiliar with collecting the rum oils.... if you have fundamental reading in regards to collecting rum oils in particular i obviously need to brush over it again

This way it makes sense. But more heat would not lead to a higher temperature. Only to a faster distillation. And a minor effect of the higher vapor speed is more entrainment (of oils for example). But this is a fine tuning, no argument against the basic principles still_stirrin pointed at.

Run till what you are collecting starts looking cloudy, that's the oils coming through from my understanding.
Least thats how I do it. I don't make Pugi Rum but Ive learned a bit from and use some of his methods for my Rum.

I myself am still waiting to see any benefit of collecting rum oils, I run a rum and collect what I plan on drinking then use the feints in the next run but have yet to see any noticeable difference in the two.

Now if you have enough tails from rum run. or feints from your rum washes you could do an all feints run and see if you notice the benefits
I have enough moll to make 50 gal wash and may use the tails from all the runs and do an all tails run in my 7.75 gal pot, if it turn's out good, happy happy. If not I can always rerun it in the thumper for the next go.

If you happen to find the holy grail, report back with your recipe and procedures and I'll most definitely take another look into it.
