I just finished my 1st batch of whisky (cracked corn and sugar) with still spirits whisky yeast (non turbo). It fermented out in 4 days. This was done on on my BH PSII in pot still configuration with a 3" column eith 2 copper mesh plugs that the column and boiler were insulated. I did 2 stripping runs of a 20L wash w/SG 1.050 (lost 5 L to come and sugar) that fermented out to .990. I had roughly 8 litters to low wines to run for my 2st stripping run. I was collecting 600 mils in QT jars (14 jars). I then diluted it all down to about 30% b4 my spirit run.
I took out 150 mils of fors on each stripping run and took
Another 200 mls of fors in the sprit run 4 safety. Then I collected in pint jars of 300 mls. I had a total of 18 jars that are airing out. As of now I've not made any cuts due to aclometer broking during the setup and cleaning
As of this morning I did NOT smell any heads in the middle jars
My question is would it be recommended to up the output to a trickle VS the 2 -3 dripps to speed up the process. My concern is on my next run I'm not wanting to smear the heads through the run by rushing it. I have pics to help but I need to resize them to post.
