I've seen the comments about boiling water in a paper cup in a campfire and I had to go and find out:

So the story checks out.
Only thing I would add for copper pot boilers with soldered seams is to be careful if you are using some kind of shroud around the pot to try to make more efficient use of your fire's heat.
The temps above the liquid line can get much hotter, so you could still have a seam split up the side above the liquid if using a shroud. That is exactly what happened with my cup.
