Boiling chips

Been running my still a year now and never got it to settle down although the product was great. It would oscillate from puking, dripping, to a stream. Heat was never crazy high, totally constant and I followed ALL the build instructions/advice....except adding boiling chips.
Not sure the first place I saw it but oh man do I want to give a huge hug to whomever said it. With a handful of rashig rings tossed into the bottom of my direct fired 15gal sanke keg boiler it runs like a dream. No puking or spitting at all. Set it and all smooth. I never though such a simple fix would work.
