Hey all, not really new but I haven't been active here in over 4 years, so I figure I should reintroduce myself. I'm a 27 year old male from "Da UP, eh". Still an avid angler (not looking to go pro anymore though). Since then I shifted my focus to the art and science of distillation. And by that I mean I focused almost solely on it in most of my free time.
I do own a couple small stills and have helped friends build small pot stills, however I'm not willing to admit if they have or have not been used in an open forum on the Internet because I do really enjoy not being in prison lmao.
My first build 4 years ago is just a very simple 7.5 gallon turkey fryer pot with a 1/2"x20' copper pipe into a 5 gallon cooling bucket. Yes, it's ugly.
The most recent is a SS keg with a 2"x3' SS reflux column with copper packing. The keg has a 6" SS ferrule welded into the top with a concentric reducer down to 2". Went electric with it and used a 240v 5500w low density fold back style heating element (uncontrolled), and a 110v 1500w high density element on a 4000 watt controller. Cooling is a 55 gallon drum and radiator with a 1000 gph pump to circulate water. Looking to add an in line sight glass and another bubbler plate or 2 to it in the near future.
And I'm working on a 200 gallon electric steam kettle build, but I haven't quite decided how I want to do it. I have faith that I'll find some good arguments for or against certain builds here.
I will gladly help where I can, and I hope to learn even more by being more active in the forums. Glad to be back!
