The build is underway I started with the PC. It is 3” and has 7 - 1/2 tubes that are 16” long. I need to do some solder clean up cause I suck at making it neat apparently. I should have used some mask, white out or something but I will fix it . Next up is the RC and then the Gin Head. I have to weld some Farrell’s on my keg and make a stand for this but I think In 3 or 4 weeks we will be doing a sacrificial run .I will post pictures and design ideas as it happens here. Thanks to Detroit DIY and Bluefish for the parts and getting me some forward motion. I might just etch a cigar band on this PC ala Detroit DIY!

Forgot pictures, i just filled it with water and put a little pressure on it, no leaks !

got the downcomers done and started the parrot. Pool depth is 3/4" with 3/4" down tubes. I still have to make the RC and then i will be in pretty good shape. I got all the parts for the Gin Head have to start laying that out after the last condenser.

Awesome work. Sure is a ton of knock down power in that pc. How many plates are you planning on and how are you placing them? Can't wait to see what's next.

I have 5 plates and a 36” packed section that can go on top of that. The plates are about 5.5” apart

5.5 good distance, beins small scale with packing, and gin head options.

Are you going to have a plate tree, solder them in place or place the plates between ferrules?

They go between ferrules, I got a great deal on some stainless tees with the sight glasses the should be here in a week or so I will post some pictures,

Gotta love modular. I'm planning on upgrading my current larger bubbler to modular with spray balls.

Spray balls, damn you guys keep giving me more ideas

I worked on the parrot today still
Needs clean and polish but I’m pretty happy so far on how things are going

Great looking parrot. The dump valve is great to have. I usually fill one jar and dump the parrot in a cycle to keep any smearing to a minimum. I also just picked up one of those tiny hydrometers off cramazon, not bad for $6. It's less than half the length and width of a regular one so you only need an itty bitty parrot with about %15 the volume of a regular size one.

Thanks guys! Wish I had known about that little hydrometer it would be nice to have something smaller. I just ordered some new ones still waiting for them I have all my old ones too

Good to see you in progress Big Stogie. I'm impressed with your projected completing time... or perhaps I'm just the slowest builder on this forum. I planed and a few months before I started posting, and I think i'm on month 13 since I started posting. I'm looking forward to your progress. Especially how the CIP works out... are you just adding a spray ball at the top of your column to condenser cross over?

PFShine, let us know the accuracy/readability of that little thing. I like the size and implications for smearing, but will you be able to read it? Or is approximate good enough?

your creation is thing of beauty, my creation is more of a workhorse and definity not the same caliber of workmanship that you displayed Detroit. I will build a beautiful one next but i figured I better learn thing thing first do i only have to build one more.

I also cheated a bit, i was able to have these made for far less than i could buy the materials to make them. and they got done in two weeks. will be here in a few days

I have a 3.5' section of 3" type k copper tubing, just looking through the threads to see what I like and yours... I like!

got side tracked by life but I did get the rest of the bits finished up taoy to at least make a clean run and check for leaks, I will post up some pictures but I have decided that my solder skills suck I would be better off tig welding this. the only thing i have left to build is the carter head I am going to get some of the brass flanges from Still dragon these stainless ones are a pain.

We made a vinegar run and except for a couple small leaks it went good, I could not overpower the RC even running it wide open at 5500 witts. I put a couple gallons of water in and some old feints plus some other failed pot still jars and ran it again. A lot of green came out the start but cleared up and i got a few jars out. It ran at 180 in the beginning but dropped fast by the 5 quart it was down to 100 and i stopped the plates filled and then emptied from the bottom like a read it should. its going to take some time to get a handle on this. With the feints run i could not reduce the power enough to get full reflux so i suspect my old controller needs a tune up, the volt gauge was acting funny too. All in all it was a big success in my book just need to refine the process. Oh and one more thing I definitely need a radiator or something to cool the drum it got hot way to fast. I will see what i can mcgiver up, thanks for all the help from people here I will post some pics soon

Made a couple runs, after the first it was clear that my pump was not up to the job so I added a much bigger pump with more lift, this really helped me control the run much better and I feel like I can drive it now, I need to make a heat exchanger to cool the water in the tank better over the run but it gets done for now
